Kelly Marcel will direct and write ‘Venom 3’, featuring the return of Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and potentially exploring the concept of the multiverse.

Production preparations are underway for the third film of the Venom franchise by Marvel and Sony. Casting for the film is currently in progress, with several new additions recently announced. Excitingly, the official filming schedule has now been disclosed, and it is set to commence in the near future.

The filming of Venom 3 is slated to commence on June 26, 2023, in London, UK, and is expected to conclude on September 29, 2023, encompassing a three-month period. The production will operate under the working title “Orwell,” with director Kelly Marcel at the helm. It’s worth noting that the ongoing WGA strike could potentially impact the start date, but as of now, the production remains on schedule.

In the upcoming third film, Tom Hardy will reprise his role as both the titular character and Eddie Brock. Joining the cast are Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor, who have been confirmed as new additions to the film. Additionally, reports suggest that Jemaine Clement is also set to have a role in the movie. The plot details are being kept secret, and apart from Hardy, no other actors’ characters have been disclosed at this time.

In the post-credit scene of Spiderman: No Way Home, Tom Hardy’s Venom made a brief appearance, leaving behind a small portion of the Symbiote in the universe where Tom Holland’s Peter Parker resides. The existence of Spiderman in the Venom universe has yet to be officially confirmed. However, earlier this year, a leak hinted at Spiderman potentially having a role in Venom 3. Recently, a new rumor surfaced, suggesting that Chiwetel Ejiofor would portray the main antagonist in the film. It will be intriguing to discover the character Ejiofor will portray, considering he already plays Baron Mordo in the MCU, and Venom briefly coexisted in the same universe, albeit for a limited time.

Sony has made it clear that the Multiverse will play a significant role in its Marvel universe. We have witnessed Venom traversing between universes, and Michael Keaton’s Vulture, previously the primary antagonist in Homecoming, is now involved with Morbius. Therefore, following the events of Multiverse of Madness, there is a strong possibility of seeing Chiwetel Ejiofor reprising his role as Baron Mordo in Sony’s Marvel universe. The prospect of any of the Spider-Man characters appearing in Sony’s live-action anti-hero universe adds an intriguing layer of excitement to the unfolding narrative.

The production team for the film includes Kelly Marcel and Tom Hardy as producers, with Marcel also taking on the role of the screenplay writer alongside Hardy. Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, and Hutch Parker are additional producers involved in the project.

The first Venom film, released in 2018, achieved tremendous box office success, grossing $856.1 million despite having a budget of $110 million. Similarly, its sequel, ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage,’ proved to be a success even amidst the challenges of the pandemic, surpassing $500 million in box office revenue.
