Even though Jonathan Majors remains entangled in a legal battle, his film will be released later this fall under Disney’s watch.

Since first being arrested on assault charges in March 2023, Majors’ reputation and career have suffered greatly, with the actor being dropped from many productions and having his future work put in jeopardy.

Following his role as the main adversary in Michael B. Jordan’s Creed III, Majors was omitted from all marketing for the film’s home release, which comes on top of him being on shaky ground in the MCU as Kang the Conqueror.

Disney Still Releasing New Jonathan Majors Movie

@itsthatmovie tweets about Majors’ new movie releasing in early December:

Disney has included Jonathan Majors’ upcoming film Magazine Dreams in its new “upcoming theatrical releases” slate, which details the company’s theatrical release schedule from September 2023 to June 2024.

Magazine Dreams is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 8, just a couple of months after Majors returns in Loki Season 2 on October 6.

This same list indicates that Marvel Studios’ Deadpool 3 will no longer be released as initially planned on May 3, 2024, potentially delaying it later into next year.

It also revealed that The Marvels would still be on track to make its debut on November 10, despite worries that the MCU sequel might be delayed as a result of the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strikes.

The following is a list of Disney’s upcoming theatrical release dates:

  • A Haunting in Venice – September 15, 2023
  • The Creator – September 29, 2023
  • The Marvels – November 10, 2023
  • Next Goal Wins – November 17, 2023
  • Wish – November 22, 2023
  • The Bikeriders – December 1, 2023
  • Magazine Dreams – December 8, 2023
  • Poor Things – December 8, 2023
  • All of Us Strangers – December 22, 2023
  • Elio – March 1, 2024
  • Snow White – March 22, 2024
  • Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes – May 24, 2024
  • Inside Out 2 – June 14, 2024

This might be considered as a positive sign for Majors, who is presently awaiting his assault trial, which is set to begin on September 6 following continual delays.

The actor was recently included in a Marvel Studios Assembled episode for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania on Disney+, in which he played Kang the Conqueror, after concerns that he would be dropped owing to his legal controversy.

Majors has also been utilized in promotional material for Loki Season 2 ahead of its debut on Disney+ as he returns to the role of Victor Timely.

What Will Disney Do With Jonathan Majors?

With this new update, it appears that nothing will be decided on Jonathan Majors’ future with Disney until further information is learned about his trial, which now begins on September 6th.

He’s also received support from fellow MCU stars through this time, with Captain America star Anthony Mackie stating that he’s “innocent until proven guilty” as his trial approaches.

For the time being, both Magazine Dreams and Loki Season 2 do not appear to be experiencing any delays as a result of Majors’ controversy, albeit Disney appears to be the only company continuing pushing Majors’ work further at this stage.

But, with complaints surfacing as recently as June 2023 about potentially disturbing behavior on movie sets, the situation won’t be easy, especially given Majors’ importance to the studio’s future ambitions.
