The Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles hosted a live performance where the best music, TV, film, and sports performances of the year were honored with awards. This year’s event marked the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop and Busta Rhymes was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

During the tribute to Tina Turner, Patti LaBelle performed on stage but appeared to have trouble remembering the lyrics to “Simply the Best.”

Tonight, SZA won two awards: Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and Video of the Year for her song “Kill Bill.” Meanwhile, Beyonce’s “Break My Soul” was recognized with both the Viewers Choice Award and the BET Her Award.

In film, Disney/Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever won Best Movie award at the awards ceremony. Angela Bassett, who starred in the movie, was recognized as Best Actress and Damson Idris received the Best Actor award.

Drake scored two wins tonight after he and GloRilla came in as the top nominees with seven nominations each.

During the night’s highlights of the event, Offset and Quavo came together to honor the memory of the departed Migos member Takeoff. Additionally, Muni Long expressed her appreciation for writers amidst the ongoing WGA strike, emphasizing their significance.
