Joining them is Ty Simpkins, who returns as their son Dalton, now portrayed as a grown-up character. Notably, Ty Simpkins has since appeared in movies like Jurassic World and The Whale.

Despite Dalton’s lack of recollection of past events, he finds himself plagued by horrifying nightmares. Recognizing the reemergence of supernatural terrors wreaking havoc, Josh and Renai come to the realization that they must disclose the truth to their son. It becomes evident that they have no alternative, particularly considering the circumstances.

In a recent feature for Empire, Patrick Wilson elaborated on his unique vision for Insidious, highlighting how it diverges from the previous iterations. “I’ve seen this movie on the page for so long that I knew exactly what I wanted,” he wrote.

“This being a movie with Dalton and Josh dealing with trauma, balancing the light and dark in their life, it’s very heavy stuff and doesn’t lend itself to jump-scares.

“I didn’t want to emulate James [Wan], or be more like him. So there’s a tonal dread.”

The theatrical release of Insidious: The Red Door is scheduled for July 7th.
