Peacock’s Twisted Metal series is all set to premiere on the streaming platform tomorrow. However, Anthony Mackie has already expressed interest in taking on the Metal Gear Solid video game franchise for his next project.
In a recent interview with The Wrap, Anthony Mackie discussed Twisted Metal and was questioned about his preference for the next video game he’d like to see turned into a movie or TV show. “There’s so many video games that I would love to see turned into movies just so you can go on a journey with those characters,” Mackie said. “They already did ‘Max Payne,’ they did so many of them already. It’s just another wave of it now. But I would love to do ‘Metal Gear Solid.’ I feel like there’s so many characters that we learned of and we fell in love with through video games that would make cool IPs to turn into television shows and movies.“
Hollywood has been persistent in its efforts to bring a live-action adaptation of Metal Gear Solid to the screen, and Anthony Mackie is not the only one interested in the series. The last we heard of the project, it was under the direction of Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) and was set to feature Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) as Solid Snake.
The Twisted Metal series is based on an original concept by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, which promise to be a half-hour, high-octane action-comedy about a “motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.” Anthony Mackie stars as John Doe, “a smart-ass milkman who talks as fast as he drives. With no memory of his past, John gets a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make his wish of finding community come true, but only if he can survive an onslaught of savage vehicular combat.“
